Integration, data & extension · cloud platform

SAP BTP: keep the ERP core clean and build everything else around it.

SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) is SAP's cloud platform for connecting systems, extending SAP applications, working with data, and building apps and automation. It is where changes that once went into the ERP's core are built instead, so upgrades stay simple, and where SAP and non-SAP systems meet. It also provides the AI services behind intelligent workflows and agents.

Capabilities

What SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) covers

  • Integration

Connect SAP and non-SAP applications, APIs, events and trading partners with SAP Integration Suite.

  • Extension

Build side-by-side applications and extensions, with low-code and pro-code tools, outside the ERP core.

  • Process automation

Automate workflows and approvals across systems with the SAP Build tools.

  • Data and analytics

Bring data from SAP and other sources together for analytics and planning with SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud.

  • AI services

Use AI services, including generative AI, on your own business data, with the access controls and audit trail a business process needs.

  • Governance and security

Identity, authorizations, monitoring and lifecycle management for everything built on the platform.

Is it the right one?

Where it fits, and where it does not

We would rather you choose the right thing than the one we happen to be discussing.

A strong fit when

  • You are moving to S/4HANA and want to keep custom code out of the core.
  • You need to connect SAP to e-commerce, banks, logistics or other systems with something sturdier than point-to-point scripts.
  • You want apps, analytics or AI on SAP data without disturbing the ERP.
  • Several SAP cloud products need to work together.

Look at something else when

  • You only need a simple, one-off connection between two systems: a smaller integration may do, and we will say so.
  • You have no SAP applications and no plan to: other platforms may fit better, and our digital engineering team can advise.

How we deliver

How Abrimatt delivers SAP BTP

Every engagement runs in phases, so the business sees progress and risks surface early. The timescale for each phase is set after an assessment, not before.

  1. Discover

Inventory the integrations, custom code and extensions you have, and the ones you need.

  2. Architect

Set clean-core principles, integration patterns and the security model.

  3. Build

Build integrations, extensions and automation on the platform, with the code kept small and documented.

  4. Test

Test end to end with real data and failure cases, including what happens when a connected system is down.

  5. Operate

Monitoring, alerting and support, so problems are found by us before they reach your users.

  6. Improve

Retire old scripts and customizations one by one as the platform takes over their work.

Questions we are asked

SAP BTP: questions and answers

What does "clean core" mean?

Keeping SAP's standard ERP software free of modifications, and building additions through supported extension points or on SAP BTP. It is meant to keep upgrades manageable and support from SAP straightforward.

Do we need SAP BTP if we already have integrations?

Not necessarily. We review what you have. Point-to-point scripts and custom code tend to become expensive to carry through an upgrade, so moving the important ones onto a managed platform often pays off, but only where it makes the landscape simpler.

Can it run our AI agents?

SAP BTP provides AI services and the integration layer an agent needs to act safely across SAP and other systems. We choose where to run an agent case by case. See our AI automation and AI agents page.
