Resilience · backup, recovery and continuity

Backups you have tested, copies ransomware cannot reach, and a plan you have rehearsed.

A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a backup. We design backup and recovery around what your business cannot do without: which systems matter, how much data you can afford to lose and how long you can be down. We keep protected copies, including immutable and offline ones that an attacker cannot erase, and we run recovery tests, so that your plan has been proven before you need it.

Capabilities

What Backup, Disaster Recovery & Continuity covers

  • Backup design

Decide what to protect, how often and for how long, around what the business cannot lose.

  • Immutable and offline copies

Copies that cannot be changed or deleted, so that ransomware cannot take them with everything else.

  • Replication and failover

For the systems that cannot wait, a second site or cloud copy ready to take over.

  • Recovery plans and runbooks

Step-by-step instructions, with roles and contact details, that work when people are stressed.

  • Testing and rehearsals

Regular test restores and recovery drills, with the results written down and the gaps fixed.

  • Cloud backup

Backups held off site in the cloud, protected and monitored.

Is it the right one?

Where it fits, and where it does not

We would rather you choose the right thing than the one we happen to be discussing.

A strong fit when

  • You do not know when your backups were last restored successfully.
  • The business could not work for more than a short while without its systems.
  • You hold data that would be a disaster to lose, or to leak.
  • You are worried that ransomware could reach your backups too.

Look at something else when

  • You need continuous availability with no interruption: that is a high-availability design, and we will say what it costs before you decide.
  • Your systems are in the cloud already with their own protection: we review that it is enough, and add what is missing.
  • You want a plan without testing it: an untested plan is the thing we advise against.

How we deliver

How Abrimatt delivers Backup & Recovery

Every engagement runs in phases, so the business sees progress and risks surface early. The timescale for each phase is set after an assessment, not before.

  1. Review

See what you protect, where the copies are and whether anyone has restored them.

  2. Agree the objectives

Decide with the business how much data it can lose and how long it can be down, for each system.

  3. Design

Design the copies, the protection and the failover to meet those objectives.

  4. Build

Put the backup, the protected copies and the monitoring in place.

  5. Test

Restore real data and rehearse recovery, and fix what the test shows.

  6. Keep it current

Test on a schedule, and update the plan when systems and people change.

Questions we are asked

Backup & Recovery: questions and answers

What do RPO and RTO mean?

RPO, the recovery point objective, is how much recent data you can afford to lose. RTO, the recovery time objective, is how long you can afford to be without the system. We agree both with the business, system by system, and design the backup to meet them.

Is a backup in the cloud enough?

Not on its own. A cloud copy is a good start, but it should be protected from deletion, and it should be restorable at the speed you need. We check both, and add an immutable or offline copy where the risk justifies it.

Do we really have to test restores?

Yes. It is the only way to know the backup works, and how long recovery takes. We schedule the tests, record the results and fix the gaps they reveal.

Start the conversation

Know that you can get your business back.

Tell us which systems you cannot do without and how your backups work today. We will show you where the gaps are, what a tested plan would involve and what protected copies you need.

  • A check of whether your backups can be restored, and how fast
  • Recovery objectives agreed with your business, system by system
  • A rehearsal plan, so that the first test is not the real thing

What happens next

  1. Tell us where you are

A short form or a call: what you run today, and what is getting in the way.

  2. We review it with you

A named consultant looks at your situation and talks through the options and what each would involve.

  3. You decide what comes next

You leave with a clear picture and a recommended scope you can take to your team.
